As your Miami Beach Commissioner, I am your voice, talking about issues that matter to YOU!
Regarding our City Budget, we have to make wise decisions about what services are necessary and desired by residents and the income to pay for them, balancing the budget through efficient management including pensions for safety employees that make sense for them and the tax payers. Issues we must work on now, include:
- Traffic calming and increased enforcement in residential neighborhoods where residents are at constant risk from speeders. I want to see traffic bumps; red light cameras at big intersections, and more police presence to ensure that our motorists are complying with traffic laws. Our residents are entitled to feel safe in their own neighborhoods.
- Improved parking
- Local business development.
- A better level of communication between city officials and the people.
- A cleaner, safer and more prosperous Miami Beach.
- Reduced flooding, potholes and traffic hazards throughout the city.
- Adequate housing for all workers.
- An emergency reserve fund for natural disasters
- Green building-initiatives and revival of the art-deco movement through subsidized restoration of homes accomplished by zoning incentives and tax breaks
- Revision of the historic preservation code to ensure that excessive restrictions are not placed on buildings lacking historic merit while guaranteeing historic buildings are preserved
- Friendly relations between residents, tourists and police officer
- Condo problems - foreclosures
