Why I'm Serving & Running for Re-election
Dear People of Miami Beach –
During the past nine months, it has been my distinct honor and privilege to serve you as your City Commissioner.
The greatest benefit of this job has been meeting so many of you through citizen and homeowner groups. Thank you for taking the time to share opinions that have broadened my perspective and allowed me to make better decisions for you.
Through your input and support, I established the Green Committee – a committee of energetic and dynamic residents who are dedicated to making Miami Beach an environmental “green” leader. City Hall has already switched to environment-friendly procedures, but we cannot stop there. We need your participation and partnerships to make our City and your lives better. We will be offering workshops and materials that will help you make wiser decisions in your daily lives.
I’ve been asked why I am running for office again. It’s simple! Another term will allow me to complete some of the projects that were started but not completed this past year. For instance, parking and transportation are huge concerns on Miami Beach, but we need real cures, not just band-aids.
I suggest better and “greener” mass transit that will serve weekend guests and visitors from the mainland. Whereas we wholeheartedly welcome these visitors, our residents are literally trapped in their homes. I have reached out to professionals who have proven mass transit records to help us. We must get a handle on the traffic – it’s essential to our future.
We also need to identify areas that can effectively and attractively support additional parking facilities, like the one on 6th and Collins that successfully blends with the area. When considering these structures, we must always proceed with caution and respect for our neighborhoods rather than implementing a quick fix. This is where we live… where we call home.
My service to Miami Beach is not limited to this past year; it extends for many years in a variety of roles. I take my job as your Commissioner seriously and am proud to be endorsed by so many of our community leaders and organizations. I would like to continue to make Miami Beach better, safer and greener and ask for your support.
Please vote on Tuesday, November 6th. And please consider casting your vote for me by punching #58. Thank you!

Winning the election ripened as the fruit of my vision and labor with the investment of so many individuals who worked alongside me. Without the many gifted people who work so diligently with me, I would not be able to attempt fulfilling my aspiration. There is a lot of work ahead of us.
The firefighters and police are happy & proud to be working with me for my re-election to the Miami Beach Commission. Group V - Punch #58, but it is your vote I have worked hard to earn.

Although I am proud to have been endorsed by so many public officials, organizations and Chamber of Commerce Presidents, it is your vote I have been working hard to earn. Please honor me with your vote. Punch #58.

I could not have positioned myself to win the election last November without the support, encouragement and commitment of those around me, sharing a vision of who I am and where I am going. An endeavor of this magnitude was only accomplished through the many contributions of those around me who know me and share my desire to touch as many lives as possible by making the City of Miami Beach an even better place to live, work, and play.

Liberty Under the Law: Empowering Youth Assuring Democracy.
Inspiring and educating our youth is an honor and a privilege.

When I was encircled by the children at Treasure Island Elementary School during Law Week, I knew that the sacrifice of my own self-interests was well worth it. I will not forget that I have been given much and that I must give something of value back. I will add a new element so that the next generation will know that they, too, have a story to tell, a song to sing, and a gift to give.

It is an honor and a privilege to work with men such as Rev. Pedro Martinez founder and president of

Vice Mayor Gongora and the MBCDC sought input and advice from the design experts with regard to: providing innovative affordable housing to address the needs of Miami Beach residents, preserve the integrity of the historic structures, advancing green building design and initiatives, creating a project with the CANDO district to have a positive catalytic impact on the neighborhood and search for additional financial resources.

My service to the City of Miami Beach ignites my passion, stirs my imagination and raises my adrenaline. I desire to see my supporters unified behind a common goal. My service gives us all a connection to something larger than ourselves to believe in and strive for. It motivates us to new levels of achievement.

I value hard work for a worthwhile cause. For my calling I am satisfied to get up early and stay late. Working for my community is worth giving up some of my self-interests. I won't be satisfied with mediocrity. I am working wholeheartedly, making my best effort. I am devoting my time and energy to pursuits inside my strength zone as I work for my city. I have the aspiration and ability...the 'knack'...talent and motivation. I continue to move toward my purpose, the deeper fulfillment and sustaining significance that comes when you are pursuing a calling.
