Together we can make Miami Beach better!

Together we can do great things for Miami Beach

We can all serve.  We all have talents and abilities which we can use to make our city a better place to live and work and I appreciate and admire the many people who work alongside me devoting their time to this cause.

The ultimate test of a moral society is the kind of world it leaves to its children.”___Dietrich Bonhoffer

Inspiring and educating our youth is a rewarding privilege.

When I was encircled by the children at Treasure Island Elementary School during Law Week, I knew that the sacrifice of my own self-interests was well worth it.  I will not forget that I have been given much and that I must give something of value back.  I will add a new element so that the next generation will know that they, too, have a story to tell and a gift to give.

All of us can elevate our lives through conscious endeavor.

It gives me a strong sense of gratitude to work with men such as Rev. Pedro Martinez founder and president of
HopeinMiamiBeach.  Wih Rev. Martinez leadership we are reminded to take time out to reach out to the homeless and others less fortunate than ourselves who are not hopeless due to his many goodwill acts of love and kindness.

I've learned many things from those who have gained wisdom over many years.

It feels good to take the time to add to the lives of others.

I am always seeking input and advice from the design experts with regard to: providing innovative affordable housing to address the needs of Miami Beach residents, preserve the integrity of the historic structures, advancing green building design and initiatives, creating a project with the CANDO district to have a positive catalytic impact on the neighborhood and search for additional financial resources.

I want to make a contribution.  This is the way I feel fully alive.

Serving you as Miami Beach Commissioner previously was an honor and a privilege.  I am running again for a full four year term.  Your agenda has always been my agenda.  We have to act today to have a better Miami Beach.  You told me that you want and deserve better parking and transportation including better public transportation.  As  member of the Miami-Dade County Safe Parks Oversight Committee, I am working to bring in funding to create new parks and improve on the parks that exist.  Especially in these difficult economic times, I want to work with you to find ways to provide better city services with less money.

It has always been a great pleasure to meet so many of you through citizen and homeowner groups.  I've learned many important aspects of service from you that have broadened my perspective.  Understanding what is important to you opens pathways to problem solving and team building.

While in office, it was my pleasure to serve you by establishing the Green/Sustainability Committee – a committee of energetic and dynamic residents who are dedicated to making Miami Beach an environmental “green” leader. City Hall is switching to more environment-friendly procedures.  Since leaving public office, I have had the good fortune to continue my efforts to make Miami Beach cleaner and greener as Chairman of the Environmental Coalition of Miami Beach.

My service record extends over many years.  I thank you for the trust you have placed in me.  I believe you know I sincerely understand and care about the issues that need to be resolved to make Miami Beach an even better place to live and work.  I am  committed to the welfare of the City of Miami Beach and I will go the extra mile to serve you.

I am available and listening to your concerns and responses.  Our connection as residents interested in working together to make Miami Beach better enables me to approach situations that matter to you in a calm, friendly, fearless way.  I appreciate your trust in me as I seek a new beginning, election to a full four year term.  I pledge to roll up my sleeves and work hard for you everyday, serving you effectively with integrity.   Your dreams, hopes and goals are the same ones I share for Miami Beach.  Together we can look at current situations as a new opportunities to reclaim, redeem and fix what is broken, making Miami Beach an even better place to live and work.
